Welcome Autumn!

There's a new chill in the morning air - fall is on its way!  I can't believe school has been in session 1 month already!  

First, I would like to thank Amanda Mattioli for her dedication to the 6th Annual CRES 
Jog-A-Thon!  The event was a success!  Amanda worked tirelessly to ensure this event went off without a hitch and that our kids had a great time!  Thanks also to her great committee, as well to all the families and community sponsors who donated to our school.  Our awards ceremony will take place later in October.   Our most sincere apologies to Dr. Jake Ichino, of Reno Heart Physicians, who should have been included on the back our our 2012 Jog-a-Thon T-Shirts. We appreciate your continued support!

October 15th-19th - Conference Week, school will be    dismissed at 12:50pm each day this week.

Caughlin Fall Fest...

Enjoy a nice, autumn day with your family at this fun event.  Entertain yourselves with carnival style games, try your luck at the cake walk, take a jump in a bounce house, get your face painted, pick the perfect pumpkin - there's an activity for everyone!  You can purchase a hot dog or chili dinner, and snack on baked goods, popcorn, and cotton candy!  Information about ticket purchase and volunteer needs will be coming home in next week's Friday Folder.  Please volunteer some time to this great event - there are several opportunities to do so.  If you're interested, please email Jill at jillindal@gmail.com.  

  

One Exciting Week!

This is "Fitness is Fun" Week - Amanda Mattioli has lined up a lot of guest speakers for our lunches and recesses this week!  The kids are going to hear from tennis pros, meet Bighorn basketball players, attempt long and high jumps and so much more!  Please dress your children in comfortable, athletic clothing all week so they may participate in all these extra activities!

This Friday, September 21st,  is the Jog-A-Thon!  Each grade level will have an assigned time to run on the track, and the event will end with a picnic lunchtime for all.  Please remember that donation envelopes are due this Thursday, September 20th!  We need many, many volunteers for this event.  If you can come assist from the hours of 8am-12pm (any duration of time is welcome), please email Amanda at manners@me.com.  We need volunteers to: set up the track, monitor the track, pass out gatorade/water/otter pops, line classes up, etc.  Many thanks to those companies who have made generous donations to our school.  These extra funds go a long way to providing an excellent education to our children!

Please mark October 19th on your calenders for our annual Caughlin Fest.  This is a fun, western themed, fall carnival with food and games!  We need volunteers from 2-4pm on that day for set up, and people to volunteer to run booths and games from 4-6pm.  Please notify your teacher if you are willing to help, or email Jamie at jamiecase@sbcglobal.net.  Tickets will go on sale soon.

A reminder that

• Spirit Wear orders are due on October 8th!
• Clip those Box Tops and go through www.btfe.com for online ordering!
• Parent Conference Week is October 15th-19th.  School will be released at 12:50pm each day that week.  Please try your best to attend your child's conference!
• Jog Donations are due Thursday, September 20th!
• Please wear comfortable clothing and running shoes this Friday, September 21st.  Bring a towel and sack lunch too for our school picnic.  

First Week Down!

I hope everyone had a safe and memorable Labor Day; it always seems as if it's officially the end of summer!

This week we would like to welcome our Kindergarten Families!  We know you'll have a wonderful year with Mrs. Jones, Mrs. Farfsing, and Mrs. Kerr!  

 Here are some tidbits of information after the first week...

Early Release Wednesdays - in the WCSD, most Wednesdays are "Early Release" which means that EVERY Wednesday (with a few exceptions  you will be notified of later), CRES ends school at 2:15pm rather than 3:00pm.  Please ensure that your child is picked up on time!

Spirit Fridays - at CRES, we like to show our school spirit every Friday!  Please wear anything with our school colors (green or white) or our mascot (a colt).  We will be sending Spirit Wear order forms in this week's Friday Folders.  Thanks to all those who voted at this year's Back to School Ice Cream Social for our winning design.  Below are the options that will be available...

Bananas for Box Tops! - Please don't forget to clip those Box Tops and go through the Box Tops Marketplace link to place online orders.  I just earned 1% back for CRES with my recent Old Navy order!  All these little bits add up over time!  Please go to www.btfe.com for more information and to sign up online.

Join the PTA! - Nothing is more important than the education of our children, and membership in the PTA is the perfect way to support that!  Please fill out the membership form from your child's Friday Folder and turn it into the office.  Members can be as involved - or not involved - as they choose to be.  Perks of joining the PTA are: inclusion in the school directory (and a free directory), Nevada PTA membership cards, discounts at participating vendors, and knowledge of what's going on at your school!  

Jog-a-Thon September 21,2012 - Please read the information packet that came home with your child on Friday. This is a FUN fundraiser, with a lot of valuable advertisement potential for donors.  This fundraiser has helped our school purchase Activboards and laptops for our classrooms, and this year we want to turn our focus to the CRES playground!  Many thanks to Amanda Mattioli and her amazing committee for their time and commitment to this event!  We will need a lot of volunteers for this day, please pencil it in if possible!

Open House - Please join us for this informative evening on Tuesday, Sept. 11th from 6-7:30pm.  You'll have the chance to meet your child's teacher, sign up to volunteer in classrooms, tour the school, and hear from Mrs. Thoroughman, our new principal.  

Mimi's Give Back Night - go to Mimi's for dinner on Wednesday, Sept 12th, from 5-9pm, and a portion of your bill will be donated back to CRES!  Our monthly Give Back dinners at various restaurants are always a lot of fun!

Thanks for a wonderful first week of school!  It was great to see old friends and welcome so many new families.  I know it's going to be an amazing year!
